Conscious Sedation
Sedation is a procedure often referred to as “deep sleep,” performed by anesthesiology specialists and technicians to eliminate pain, anxiety, fear, and nausea that may occur during dental treatments.
While under sedation, the patient is in a sleep-like state due to the effect of sedative medications. They do not remember the details of the procedure, any pain, or disturbing sounds afterward. This makes it easier for the patient to attend future dental treatments.
No. Conscious sedation puts you in a deeply relaxed state, but you can usually breathe on your own and respond when necessary.
You may feel some drowsiness, fatigue, or mild forgetfulness. These effects usually subside within a few hours.
