General Anesthesia
It is the process of putting the patient to sleep in order to prevent them from feeling negative sensations such as pain, pulling, or noise that may occur during surgery.
Although it can be applied at different levels, the most well-known form is general anesthesia. General anesthesia involves a state of sleep that includes components such as muscle paralysis and complete loss of memory. Anesthesia can also be administered regionally.
The aim is to ensure that the patient undergoes the surgery under the best possible conditions and experiences a comfortable recovery process afterward.
Yes. During general anesthesia, the patient is completely unconscious. Awareness or feeling pain is extremely rare and is closely monitored by anesthesiologists to minimize risks.
It depends on the duration of the surgery and the patient’s overall condition, but typically, you wake up within a few minutes. Full alertness and the fading of grogginess may take several hours.
